I have moved pretty regularly, and with kids, so I consider myself a pretty seasoned mover - but this book still gave me tips on things I hadn't thought about, especially regarding dealing with moving companies. I liked the 'real stories' format that made the advice seem tested. I even bought one for a friend about to move in-town to help her plan the whole process.Product details

Moving....so many thoughts come to mind. Good Move helps break it down, eases the pain, and make you feel like you are not alone in the process. I plan on giving this to my realtor who I feel could benefit from it greatly since she was right there dealing with the ups and downs with us...she in turn should have it in her office and give to everyone walking in!! Quick, easy, helpful read!
We are in the midst of a move with our 3 children and was feeling a little (okay, a lot!) overwhelmed. The advice and strategies in Good Move helped me to tackle boxes, sorting, and taping with more purpose. I would highly recommended it to anyone with a move in their future! A must.
Moving is much more than sorting through boxes and cleaning out basements. This book goes deeper into the emotions that families can expect when they move into a new home and how they can mindfully make decisions to guide them through their transition. It gives practical advice on how to manage your time, expenses and children. It also points out the what if's of moving and how to avoid the pitfalls that no one wants to experience.
I wish I had read this book before my move last year! I was completely overwhelmed and full of anxiety in regards to all of the logistics involved in relocating my family to a new home -- not to mention the worries I had concerning how the move was affecting my two kids. Good Move definitely would have helped me feel more informed and confident about the whole thing. Even though my husband was supportive, I had to make a lot of decisions on my own and I was constantly second-guessing myself. This book includes a ton of helpful tips, checklists and insightful exercises from a mom that's already been through it (and had to deal with an additional stressful situation -- moving fraud). The book doesn't just rely on the author's experiences, however. Good Move includes advice from industry experts and other families who have already moved, as well. All together, the content in this book will assist readers in making well-thought out and mindful decisions about all aspects of moving his or her family to a new place. Good Move truly is a soup-to-nuts guide about moving with children and a must-give gift to anyone that may be taking on this challenge in the near future.
This book is a MUST for anyone planning to move their family from one home to another. I love how the book is organized - you can read cover to cover, or just pick and choose the sections that apply to what stage your family is at in the process. Kaly's writing style is so down to earth and I love how she includes little anecdotes and advice from so many other parents who made their "moves." As a real estate agent, I work with families all the time and the process can be quite stressful for them... this book lays it all out there to help manage expectations, give advice on everything from how to choose where your family should live, how/when to talk to your kids about the move, getting your home ready to sell, packing tips, how to avoid common moving company scams... the list goes on and on! I only got to read about a fourth of the book and cherry-picked a few sections to read through before I started feverishlly "gifting" this book via and Nook to my current clients who are in the process of moving and gave my hard copy away to another client. I am going to purchase more to keep on hand and plan to give them out as gifts. It is THAT good.
Very useful, particularly for families with children. Well organized, and lots of "case examples".
